Nanotechnology company Smoltek’s subsidiary Smoltek Hydrogen and Heraeus Precious Metals are moving forward with their strategic collaboration to develop porous transport electrodes with ultra-low iridium content for PEM electrolysis. A 3,000-hour durability test will begin this autumn, according to a joint press release.The test will evaluate the long-term operational stability of Smoltek’s nanostructured iridium catalyst layers, with the aim of paving the way for the commercialisation of more cost-effective green hydrogen production.
