ColdSpark® Phase II, featuring a demonstration plant outside Mora, Sweden, which will utilize biomethane from the Siljan Ring in Sweden, has been nominated under the EBA Inspiration Challenge, to be presented at the Biomethane week in Brussels (24 October).
AB Igrene and SEID AS are in partnership to build a demonstration plant in Mora, Sweden, as the next step in developing the ColdSpark® technology. The plant will convert biomethane from the Siljan Ring to produce clean hydrogen and carbon. The Siljan Ring biomethane is very special – access to it was created by a meteorite impact some 377 million years ago, which cracked the bedrock and created fissures through which methane can seep to the surface. It is very pure, and generated by micro-organisms living deep down within the earth’s crust. Since it is of biogen origin it is considered non-fossil and thus qualifies as biomethane.
Converting it into carbon and hydrogen using the ColdSpark® technology has three important advantages:
AB Igrene and SEID AS are proud to be able to demonstrate a project of such commercial attractiveness and significance, that has the potential also to contribute to combatting climate change.
