Geopolitical uncertainty and fluctuating gas prices strengthen interest in local production of liquefied biogas, LBG, according to a press release from Biofrigas.The company points out that electrification is reducing demand for compressed biogas while the need for LBG is increasing in heavy-duty transport, shipping and industry. In Norden, demand for liquefied volumes is growing faster than production capacity, while new facilities require lengthy permitting processes and large investments.Biofrigas develops small-scale liquefaction solutions with capacity of up to approximately 30 gigawatt-hours per year to enable local production. According to CEO Erik Fromell, the value of predictable and locally produced energy is increasing in step with higher price volatility and stricter climate requirements. Over the past year, the company has carried out factory tests and delivered its first commercial plant.
