The commodity company Nidhogg Resources will carry out ground-based magnetic measurements during the second quarter within the exploration permit Sellnäsfältet in Borlänge Municipality as part of the company’s continued exploration program in Dalarna. This is stated in a press release. Sellnäsfältet covers 51 hectares and contains around ten historical iron ore mines. The purpose of the measurements is to map expected magnetic anomalies of 1,400 meters in the east-west direction and 400 meters in the north-south direction. The method is performed on foot using a portable magnetometer and GPS.The iron ore in the area is of the apatite iron ore type, the same ore type as at Idkerberget, five kilometers to the west, where high grades of rare earth elements, REE, have been demonstrated. It is also the same type of ore that is mined in Kirunagruvan, where REE mineralizations are well documented."Sellnäsfältet is an interesting area for mapping mineralization, including the iron and REE potential in Dalarna. The combination of historical mines, clear magnetic indications, and proximity to confirmed high REE grades makes the area interesting for further exploration," says Niclas Biörnstad, CEO of Nidhogg Resources.
